Positive business trend for the first six months Sales revenue up by
about 10% EBITDA improved out of proportion to sales by 110%
ESSANELLE HAIR GROUP AG reports a good business performance for the
first six months of the current financial year. The hairdressing company,
listed in the SMAX index since 22nd June, has increased its sales by 10
% from about ¤ 52m in the same period last year to ¤ 57.4m this year.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation developed
out of all proportion to sales, rising by 110% to ¤ 3.2m, compared with
about ¤ 1.5m last year. This is an early indication of the synergy effects
which have allowed the ESSANELLE HAIR GROUP to reduce both its staff
numbers and its material costs. The operating loss also improved from
¤ 1.0m in the first half of 2000 to a mere ¤ 0.2m in the first six months of
the current year. The loss before tax in the first half of 2001 at ¤ 1.3m
was also significantly lower than last year’s loss of ¤ 2.0m. These fi-
gures do not take into account the total cost of the flotation, which a-
mounted to about ¤ 4m. Of this figure, ¤ 3.2m will be set off against
shareholders’ equity in accordance with IAS, thus not affecting the profit
